Well, guys. I did it. I am no longer a baby parent and I am officially a TODDLER parent. So, basically I’ve jumped out of the pot and into the frying pan, right? Phew. Toddler momming is hard work, y’all. Remember when your baby was just a potato and would lie in a bouncer and entertain herself with her feet? Yeah, well… those days are long gone for us toddler mamas.
Luckily, I get by with a little help from my friends. My friends being phenomenal baby products. (You’re not friends with inanimate objects? You must not be a toddler mom.)
So, back when I had a fresh infant, I wrote this post about my favorite newborn products. It seemed to really help a few of my fellow mamas, so I think it’s time I share some of my very favorite one-year-old products. These are the tools that have made my life a THOUSAND times easier in my first months as a tot mom. If you don’t know these glorious things exist, then your life cannot be made easier! Never fear, Chicklet Sydney is here!
Let me begin by introducing you to the holy grail of amazing baby stuff: BabyCubby.com. Every single product that I’m about to blow your mind with can be found on this site. There’s nothing better than finding a one-stop shop for all of your baby (and mommy) needs.
The Baby Cubby only provides the safest, top-rated, and most mom-approved products. This is why I feel confident referring my friends to them. I can always guarantee that The Baby Cubby goodies are offered with the well being of our precious little ones in mind and fully intended to guide YOU through parenthood with ease.
Little Unicorn Deluxe Muslin Swaddles
I have to begin with the best of the best. This brand has fully taken over my life and I’m not afraid to admit it. If you’ve been following along for the last year or so, you’ll know that I’ve been a HUGE Little Unicorn advocate since pregnancy! Every item from bags to quilts to bibs is truly to-die-for. However, I have to brag on their Deluxe Muslin Swaddles in particular. Do blanket textures thrill you? Because these bad boys are softer than soft. That’s not all, though. They’re extremely thin and breathable. This is what sold me, because my Piper girl has always loved to try and lull herself to sleep by completely smooshing her face into her blankets. While I never recommend allowing this without supervision, no matter how thin the blanket, Little Unicorn Deluxe Muslins will give you more peace of mind.
Oh, and can we talk about the PRINTS? The Baby Cubby has stocked up on Little Unicorn’s newest spring prints and they have me SWOONING over here. These beauties sell out quickly, so stock up while you can!
Are you kidding me with those little grapefruits? I die.
Boon Grass Drying Rack
I have used this handy-dandy contraption since the day Piper was born. It works beautifully when it comes to drying those pesky topsy-turvy bottles and sippy cups. The little green pointy thingies (technical term) hold everything in place. You could even buy add-on “trees” to put in your “grass” that allow you hang things like nipples and accoutrements. This is not only efficient, but really freakin’ cute. NOTE: also great for drying wine glasses after a long, hard day of momming. You didn’t hear that from me, though.
PS – I’m currently cackling at The Baby Cubby’s description of the Boon Grass Drying Rack: “No mowing required.”
Oh, where do I even begin with this beautiful invention? I discovered the DockATot once Piper was too big to be swaddled, but she still needed comfort of the swaddle. I did A LOT of research on this one because it comes with quite the price tag, but I can assure you that this sucker has paid for itself a million times over. You cannot put a price on precious sleep.
The Dock is a sleeper/lounger pad with built-in breathable sides to help baby feel snug and secure. I wholeheartedly believe that it has helped Piper sleep so much more peacefully since she was five-months-old transitioning from the swaddle. She has always been a restless sleeper and the Dock was the answer to all of our prayers.
DockATot makes two sizes: the Deluxe and the Grand. Piper slept in the Deluxe until she was absolutely spilling out of it at 12-months-old (DockATot recommends upgrading at 9-months-old, but I’m stubborn). I thought it was time to wean Piper completely once she outgrew the Deluxe. HA! Good joke, Mom. We had about two to three weeks of absolutely sleepless nights before I caved and
overnighted ordered the Grand (which is big enough for one to THREE years of age!). The Grand combined with a bit of sleep training has graced us with four solid months of sleeping through the night. Can I get a hallelujah!?
These little books are the COOLEST. As an avid reader myself, I feel pretty rad buying these classic stories in the form of cardboard baby books. The pictures are darling and the books themselves are incredibly sturdy and pretty resistant to Piper’s constant book abuse. Reading these classics to her at such a young age really makes me giddy. Also, they’re so pretty that I don’t mind keeping them out in plain sight when we have visitors. I totally plan to collect them ALL!
4 Moms Breeze Playard
Guys. This pack ‘n play is EVERYTHING. I was intimidated by portable cribs for the longest time because of their thousands of pieces and buttons and overall massive size. Then, I was gifted THIS 4Moms Playard and it completely shattered all of my fears.
In typical 4Moms fashion, this pack ‘n play is downright easy to use. It only folds in and out in one direction and then all you need to do is press down on the middle of it and it snaps into place in seconds! Voila! No sweat! We have one at each grandparents’ house and they never fret about getting it set up for us. I’ve even stumbled into Blake’s parents’ house in Georgia at 3 am after driving through the night, clicked this sucker into place, laid my Pip down, and I was snoozing myself minutes later. It’s genius, really.
“All of these trusty products have been Piper approved!”
I hope that this list has given you a bit of motherly guidance. If you have ever been on the fence about any of these baby products, let this be your sign to go for it. I have thoroughly tested each and every one of these goodies and I would never recommend them if I didn’t 1000000% obsess over them on a daily bases.
And, if you haven’t already, put your trust in The Baby Cubby. They have truly been my saving grace in the last few months. I hate to sound cliche, but my shopping experiences with them really do feel different. They deliver nationwide (for FREE over $49! what!?), but it always feels like I’m ordering from a local shop.
I rely on The Baby Cubby for many things, but one of the most essential needs that they fulfill is a sense of community. The BC folks are very clearly REAL parents who have been there. They’re not just there to sell you amazing baby products. They’re there to encourage and provide resources to overwhelmed parents like myself. I followed all of their social media platforms and I’ve never looked back! I’ve never had a question unanswered. If I’m lost (with products or just with life in general), they point me in the right direction. Go ahead, give their Instagram a looksie and try not to smile your face off. Once you’re apart of The Baby Cubby, you’re family.
I’m wishing you all a happy March! Spring is just about sprung and I can’t wait to start putting Pip Pip tiny little outfits that show off her baby chub. As always, feel free to leave any questions in the comments! xoxo
